A Consultation
Primary
Painting offers a complete, hassle free painting experience.
All jobs start with a thorough consultation during which you
will be informed of various options that are available. Simply
leaving an estimate in a mailbox or under a welcome mat is
never an option. Each job is completely different from the
one that preceded it, and is treated as such.
During the
initial consultation we will walk around your home, explain any
problem areas, and will inquire about your concerns or questions.
At this time you will also be informed about the materials
we will apply to your home. Primary Painting uses only top
quality tools and materials, ensuring that your home withstands
the elements and continues to look its best for years to come.

Paint
Colors
Many of our
paint jobs are single coat repaints of the same
color. Color selection can be an intimidating process and
trying to determine what color to paint your entire home based
on a color chip can seem impossible. To help you through this
process here are our Primary suggestions.
Walk
or drive through your neighborhood or nearby neighborhoods
and look at houses to determine what color schemes you like.
If you find a house that has colors you like, ask the homeowner
what colors they have on their home. Since you will have seen
the colors on a large scale, this is by far the best way to
know you will enjoy the color on your home.
Once you find a color you
like, buy a quart of it to take home and sample it.
Apply one coat and allow a few hours drying time, then apply
a second coat. Remember, ALL color changes will require two
coats of paint, so your first coat will not be
an accurate indication of the finished product.
Please
remember, color selection is the customer's responsibility.
If your colors must be approved by governing homeowners associations,
please have this completed prior to our arrival. UNFORTUNATELY,
WE CANNOT SELECT COLORS FOR YOU!

Job
Preparation
Look at any freshly painted home from the street and you may
believe that the contractor did a "good" job. Never
settle for a "good" job! The difference between
a "good" job and a Primary Painting job lies under
the surface! The preparation when refinishing a home is what
will guarantee your home holds up years from now.
We
start every job by powerwashing all surfaces to be painted,
siding, trim and the deck if applicable. Regardless of whether
or not your home appears clean, we must powerwash all surfaces
to ensure a Primary job. Powerwashing removes all mildew and
chalking paint that may prohibit paint from properly adhering
to the substrate.
Our
uniformed professionals will begin your Primary Painting job
by caulking ALL joints and cracks. We caulk all expansion
joints (areas where siding meets siding), trim boards and
window frames -- not just those that appear to need it. Not
caulking all joints will leave your home suspect to premature
weathering in the future. Nail holes are ruinous! Every nail
hole serves as a bucket, trapping moisture which will lead
to water damage. Water builds up in the nail holes and expands
to create MAJOR PROBLEMS! We fill ALL nail holes using painter's
putty. The painter's putty dries to form an impenetrable barrier
against the elements.
Any areas of chipping/flaking paint must be sanded prior
to painting. Simply recoating surfaces with flaking paint will
only temporarily mask the problem. The proper way to deal with
chipping paint is to sand down all surfaces to bare wood. Any
surface that has bare wood exposed must be primed prior to
painting to ensure proper adhesion. Once bare, all surfaces
are recoated using a latex primer.
You
take great pride in your home and the landscaping around it.
Protecting your plants and unpainted surfaces is our Primary
concern! A Primary job means that before painting we will
cover ALL unpainted surfaces (shingles, landscaping, deck,
concrete, etc). We also remove all street numbers, doorbells,
brass kick plates, doorknockers, light fixtures, shutters
and downspouts to ensure a complete paint job.

Painting
The
first step when painting is to coat all of the siding on the
home. Upon completion of the siding, we will go around your
home a second time and paint all window frames, trim boards,
fascia boards, overhangs, gutters and downspouts. After completing
all siding and trim, we will go around your home a third time
to ensure that all windows have been cleaned and there are
no drips or missed areas.
Once
we complete our short list of touch ups, your operations manager
will meet with you and give you the opportunity to inspect
the completed project for yourself. This is what is known
as the final walk-through. It serves as your peace of mind,
so don't hesitate to ask any questions. We'll address all
of your concerns. If it helps for you to use binoculars or
to open all windows from the inside, we encourage you to take
those steps. Compose a punch list; leave notes, anything that
will help us to exceed your expectations. A Primary paint
job is never complete until you say it is!
